Rewind to Jang-mi the runaway bride, as she escapes the bridal shopping day from hell and leaves Ki-tae standing in the street calling her name. Jang-mi’s mom gives Se-ah the once-over and asks suspiciously who she is, and Ki-tae’s mom has no qualms about calling her his ex-fiancée. I just thought the bike scene was hilarious, but now that you point out the metaphor I love it even more. Also, did you notice the wilting rose by JM’s bed after the parent meeting when KT called her out to meet him? I think that shows a tad bit about her feelings about their fake relationship, but it could also be a metaphor for herself in their fake relationship and she’s slowly wilting as it progresses without proper attention.
Jang-mi isn’t as affected, as she stares at Ki-tae with an expression that both accuses him of getting her into this mess, and pleads with him for help. Se-ah gets out of the car and sees the smitten expression on Ki-tae’s face, just as Yeo-reum drives up (having “borrowed” Hoon-dong’s car). Behind Jang-mi, the mothers come out and call to her. Jang-mi tries calling Ki-tae again for a rescue, and Se-ah finds his phone where he left it at the gym. She answers, and Jang-mi is desperate enough to tell her where she is.
She tries to motion him to get out of the room but he just continues to pop the balloons, eat the cake with his bare hands (since his blood sugar dropped, ha!), drink the wine and destroy her rose petal covered bed. That last bit was too much and Jang Mi pushes him away causing him to dramatically fall backwards. That gives Hoon Dong the excuse he’s been waiting for to leave the room, leaving poor Jang Mi grasping nothing but air. When Hoon Dong finally replies that he’ll freeze Gi Tae’s rent for 3 years, the two make a deal and Gi Tae prepares himself for the water splash that is about to come.
